Yowamushi Pedal Go!! Wiki

Yukinari Kuroda is a former student at Hakone Academy and was a member of the Hakone Academy Bicycle Racing Club, serving as its vice-captain of the during the storyline's second year.

Appearance[]

Yukinari has short silver hair and dark blue eyes.

Personality[]

Prior to joining the Hakone Cycling Club, Yukinari was somewhat arrogant and conceited because of his athleticism and skills in nearly every sport. However, after Yasutomo Arakita derided him and refused to fight him anywhere but the road, and first bowing to him, then losing to Manami in a climbing, then finding out that Hakone lost the 41st Inter High, but being scolded by Arakita for making excuse ignoring him just because Kuroda couldn't find the words to say to him. Yukinari learned to observe around and take everyone into consideration rather than stay egocentric. He gained enough respect to earn himself the position as the vice captain of the team in his third year. Yukinari himself isn't above scolding and poking at other members, and also shows a composed personality when he tells other members of his team to control themselves.

Skills and Techniques[]

Yukinari seems to be skilled climber that's well-respected by the Hakone members, enough to be considered as one of the possible regular members during the storyline's first year events. However, after losing to Sangaku Manami and failing to become a regular during his second-year, Yukinari worked hard to learn to pull on the flats in the winter, making him an all-rounder, or as he suggested, a puncheur because his muscles look defined, squishy and flexible, as stated by one of the spectators who watched him racing. Yasutomo also noticed he has become more flexible around his knees, making him better at cornering and overtaking on the outside. His cornering ride so close to the edge that he constantly bumps with the advertisement boards, even leaving blood marks in the objects. His resilience was also on display even as a basketball player, despite he had poor sportsmanship in other sports, to the point that he got retaliated against to hit the guardrail and was hit hard, he still overcame a huge deficit to win by over 5 seconds before blacking out and collapsing due to blood loss and low blood pressure and blood sugar. This was also why he started the habit of cat-scratching himself and making himself bleed to heighten his senses.

Yukinari developed his capability of teamworking with other cyclists, especially with Takuto Ashikiba who he served as the assist during the 42nd Summer Inter High. He also has become a more tactical rider, as he was entrusted by Touichirou Izumida to lead the team during the mountain stages in his place. Yukinari was responsible for part of Hakone's strategies during the Inter High, such as the 3-wave attacks against Sohoku in order to scatter the team early in the mountain stage and suggesting Touichirou to save his energy and do his all-out ride in the flats before the second climb, as he knew his opponents would use this part of the race to rest. His weakness, however, lies in the over-reliance on Yuto, when he was reminded that he was only a first-year. His downhill pulling ability is also a highly underrated skill.
