Ryuhou Danchiku is a second-year student at Sohoku High School and a member of the Sohoku High Bicycle Racing Club, serving as one of its regular members during his second year.
Appearance[]
Ryuhou's most noticeable feature is his hair due to the front being dyed bright blue. It seems he had his hair highlighted shortly before beginning high school, as flashbacks show him to have a full head of black hair. Beyond that, he has thick eyebrows and a tendency for calm expressions. While his height is currently unstated, he is not drawn as being noticeably taller or shorter than the average height members of the team.
He typically wears his green and blue Speed Shot jersey while cycling, but he also is shown sporting a bamboo t-shirt and even a panda themed jersey, likely in relation to the meaning of one of his surname's kanjis.
Personality[]
Ryuhou usually has a serious attitude and tends to get nervous before big events. Since he was a kid, he was the type of person to give the things he managed to obtain to the others even if they had a meaning to him. He also did let the others get in front of him during the races and even in lines, despite disturbing him or not. Despite being criticized for being too nice and even regret his actions later, Ryuhou always lacked a will of keeping things to him.
He also demonstrates a having a big lack of confidence on his skills. Even though he managed to get good results in races overall and achievements, Ryuhou always saw himself as inferior if compared to others and was the type to hide himself in other people's shadows. Gradually, Ryuhou started to overcome it as his teammates constantly told him about what he is capable about and how they trusted on him by gaving him important roles and tasks.
Skills and Techniques[]
Ryuhou is known for riding since his elementary school days, where he eventually met Issa Kaburagi and trained with. Towards the years they have been together, Ryuhou participated of races with him and developed his cycling skills to the point of becoming a member of the notorious Team Speed Shot. After joining his high school's bicycle club Ryuhou developed even more his individual skills and started to perform even better in climbs, participating of races representing it and actively performing important roles.
As a second year, Ryuhou started to face a growth spurt which forced him to change his frame to one that could fit more his size. After getting used to it, Ryuhou managed to perform even better in the races and, with Issa's aid, created unique techniques that he applied in them. One of the techniques used by Ryuhou, the "Bamboo Hop Shot", is performed by him when he aggressively dashes while his bicycle frame bends like a bamboo. His other technique, the "Panda Shout" is performed when Ryuhou when he uses the abdominal pressure on his body to squeeze out all the oxygen from his lungs and absorbs the highest amount of air possible. By doing this, Ryuhou improves his cycling capability and, when combined with the Bamboo Hop Shot, can ride twice as faster than the usual.

- The name Ryuhou means "dragon" (竜) (ryu) and "wrap, pack up, cover, conceal, package" (包) (hou).
- Ryuhou's surname Danchiku means "terraced bamboo" (段竹).

- Ryuhou and Issa started riding together when they were 6;
- He is not great at speaking in front of other people (gets extreme anxiety); but once he's broken free of anxiety, shows great riding;
- He uses a bamboo-type seat (in reference to his last name that means "bamboo pieces".);
- He has two younger siblings, a stark contrast to Kaburagi, who is the youngest in the family, which Ryuhou believes would explain their differences in personality;
- He always has Kaburagi on his mind and is always the supporting when working with him.
